VIVAnews - The Indonesian Police have yet to find out the real motives behind a series of shootings which took place in Aceh in the past two months.
"They are targeting innocent civilians. The perpetrators are likely to spread terrors among people," Chief of Criminal Investigation Department at the Indonesian Police Headquarters, Comm. Gen. Sutarman, told journalists in Jakarta, Jan 17.
In addition, police investigation reveals that no possessions of the victims had ever been taken away by the perpetrators.
Suspicion surfaces that the shootings had to do with the local elections, which will be set out in no time. "The victims are mostly workers coming from outside of Aceh," he said.
Despite the strong allegation over political issues behind the shootings, the Indonesian Police will be deploying troops to watch over the coming elections.
