Two Policemen Named Suspect in Mesuji Case

VIVAnews – The Fact Finder Team (TGPF) of Mesuji tragedy in South Sumatera and Lampung has discovered new evidence in relation with the policing process in Register 45, Lampung, which caused the death of 2 residents named Made Aste and Nyoman.

Two police officers have been named as suspects: AKBP Priyo, who shot Nyoman, and Bripda Setiawan, who shot Made Aste.

Police spokesperson, Saud Usman Nasution, said that based on Priyo’s statements, Nyoman was shot as a response over an assault that the victim launched. Meanwhile, Setiawan stated that he shot Made Aste because the man was going to stab him from behind.

“We are conducting further investigation on the case. But we will still process our members.  Let the judge decide later,” said Saud in Jakarta.

However, TGPF’s findings differed from the Police’s statement. "We will take it as an input.  We will let the court process the case,” he said.

Saud said that although Police already have the the videos, they are now still in the vague of the case.

Police have however examined 16 witnesses on the case. All will be brought before the court.

Police also arrested a female protester named Adelina among the 16 witnesses as she was considered a ringleader.

“She was the one who triggered the protest,” said Saud.
